This course is designed for planners, managers, supervisors and employees who are or will be required to develop, plan and implement any kind of ground disturbance.
Topics presented will include identifying and defining ground disturbance; describing the hazards of ground disturbance; what permits and agreements will be required; how to locate and identify underground facilities; regulations associated with ground disturbance; reclamation overview; responsibilities for owners and ground disturber; and safety requirements.
Theoretical concepts presented will be supplemented with a small group exercise related to planning a pipeline job.
*This Supervisory Level Ground Disturbance course has been assessed and is endorsed by the Alberta Common Ground Alliance as meeting the requirements of ABCGA Standard 201 Ground Disturbance Supervisory.

Length of Course: Approx. 6 hours
Certification: NorthLink Safety Training and Services
Valid: 3 Years
Course Capacity: Maximum 8 Students
Prerequisites: Be at least 16 years of age. Government Issued Photo I.D.
PPE- hard hat, coveralls, steel toe boots, gloves, safety glasses, Hi-Viz Vest, weather appropriate clothing.
Fitness - Students must be physically fit to perform practical course related activities - medical conditions must be reported to Scheduling Coordinator at enrollment. Drug & Alcohol - Individuals under the influence or suffering after effects of these substances will not be allowed to participate in this program.
Course Outline: Our workplace integrated Skid Steer Operator training program has been designed for those who are required to be trained to safely undertake work activities that involve the operation of a skid steer. This program uses a mix of training theory and practical skid steer operation to provide students the knowledge of how to operate the equipment safely. The course covers the steps of pre-operation inspections, overall equipment features, safe operation procedures and hazard avoidance. Throughout these chapters students gain a strong understanding of the skid steer, the importance of the manual, safety decals, machine components, controls, capacities and stability principles.
Our skid steer operator training program is for any employee who may be expected to complete work-related tasks that expose them to danger when working on or around a skid steer. The program teaches the information every employee needs to know in order to avoid accidents when performing work related tasks.
You will be required to have 100% attendance, participate in skill demonstration, and complete a written exam and achieve a grade of 70% or higher.
Students will spend the morning in the classroom learning background information, legislation, basic principles of safe operation, load handling, and miscellaneous systems and issues.
The afternoon will be spent at your onsite location practicing hands-on skills.

NorthLink Safety Forklift Safe Operators Course Overview

INTRODUCTION
This course will provide participants with the knowledge to operate a forklift safely. Key safe operating skills will also be developed.

OVERVIEW OF INDUSTRIAL LIFT TRUCKS
The student will learn about lift truck designs. The components of a forklift. Inspection procedures.

BASIC OPERATIONS OF FORKLIFTS
The participants will learn to identify hazards, preparation of the forklift and operator. Proper preparation of the load and proper lifting of a load.

MOVING WITH A LOAD
How to navigate docks and ramps, tall loads and dangerous surfaces. How to deal with an emergency.

SETTING THE LOAD DOWN
Lowering and placing the load. How to park

COURSE REVIEW AND TESTING – THEORY
Students will participate in group exercises which will determine the reasons forklift rules have been created and established. This will be followed by a written exam.

TESTING AND EXERCISES- PRACTICAL
This section focuses on putting into practise all the forklift procedures and information that the participants have covered during the course. After there has been sufficient practise on the forklift, the participants are tested to determine their level of practical competence.

Confined Space Entry, Monitor & Rescue Basics

Course includes review of all aspects of working in confined spaces: jurisdictionally appropriate legislation, due diligence, confined space hazards, controls, entry, specialized permits, inspection and care of equipment, and emergency rescue procedures. Participants will create a basic confined space entry plan, demonstrate their ability to inspect and use SCBA and practice the skills learned in this course.
